Hi There,
Welcome back. We hope you had a satisfying week. Our week was a quite one, it was a week that we were supposed to track our weight loss and fitness journey for the fourth Month. We did measure and tracked our progress, the difference with this month was that we were not anxious or restless with anticipation like we used to in the previous month because it was fairly clear to us how we did this month. We decided to take a break from training this week and ease the restriction on our menu a little bit. Therefore, it was a week of rest and recovery for the body, mind and metabolism, very refreshing.
Even though we gave ourselves a break from training and diet restrictions, we were careful not to overdo it. We still tried to be active and monitored our walking step counts, and we also continued with tracking our foods to ensure we do not stray too far from our calorie intake because we know that a week of reckless eating can set you back and cost you a month’s hard work. It felt good to take a break, weight loss journey can really take a toll on your mind, body and even your sanity 🙂 , you really have to put in a lot to reach your goal. Let us have a look at how we did in the 4th Month.
1. 4th Month progress tracking
Our 4th month progress tracking was less than desired, we both failed to meet our 1 kg weight loss target. Kat started the journey 4 months ago weighing 67.25 kg , now he currently weighs 64.9kg which mean he has lost 3.25kg but his 4 months target was to lose 4kg. Tshepi started her journey with a weight of 68.9kg and now she weighs 65.50 kg, this equates to a loss of 3.4kg but her targeted weight loss by the 4th month was also 4kg. We both missed our 4th month target, it is a crushing and disheartening feeling 😦 as we don’t like to skip or miss our commitments in everything we do.

Even though we missed our target and the realization that we cannot achieve our overall set 6 months’ weight loss target, we are happy that we have come this far and we appreciate our progress as we are looking lighter, we are very active and our self-confidence has improved immeasurably. There are more positives than negatives so far on this journey. In analyzing the 4th month progress results, we concluded that the beginning of winter has contributed heavily on our inability to lose weight. We feel that our metabolisms have slowed down in response to the change in season and the resulting impact is the negative effects on the body’s fat burning mode. We also feel that because of winter, we turn to eat a little bit more and quite often, and some of the foods we eat are not logged and tracked, either intentionally or through denial. Therefore, the possibilities are that our metabolism has slowed down and we are consuming more calories than we planned, and this sums up our analysis of the plateau we are experiencing.
That’s it for the 4th Month progress tracking. We failed this month and it is hard to swallow, but through this failure we have learned about the changes happening on our bodies and the habits we have started in response to a changing season. We decided to take a week break to hopefully reset our metabolism, to also reset our mindset about the journey, and to give a body a chance to fully recover from the 4 months of continuous bantering. In this coming week, we plan to restart our training and commit to our diet plan. We will also be reviewing our goals to see where can we possibly land in the last 2 months of the journey. We are aware that the possibilities are that we are now gunning for silver and not gold anymore, but with an appreciation and gratitude of all our efforts, progress and benefits attained so far and more still to be attained, then silver is very golden to us. Until next week, stay blessed.
Kat & Tshepi
