WEEK 22: 5th  Month progress tracking

Hi There,

Welcome back to Kat & Tshepi blog. We hope you had a good week. Our week was great, it was a week that we were scheduled to measure and track the 5th month progress of our 6-month weight loss and fitness journey. Tracking our progress always brings a plethora of emotions, an indescribable dance of brightly poised and dull struck feelings, we get them all. But in this month things were quite calm, restrained and not explosive, perhaps we are now accustomed to the process and have acquired a good skill of knowing where we will stand on the day of measuring progress or we could simply be tired from the labors of 5 months.

In this week, we managed to carry out our training plan, it is such a breeze to train now. It is amazing how habitual it has become to just wake up and train without even consulting our conscience for its approval, it looks like that process is bypassed once a habit is formed 🙂 ….and it is a good thing. Our nutrition this week was also appeasing, we prepared our food in advance and ensured that we are never short of foods on our meal plans, even on the weekend we had our vegetables available which is normally not the case. Weekends are still tough to tame, they are a mysterious ‘X’ that just refuses to be solved. In this week, we also continued with tracking the calories we consumed daily, we realized that we have decreased the strictness of logging our foods, this is because we have now grasped the essences of tracking calories and our minds now have a pretty good estimation of calories in foods we eat as well as the portion sizes. Let’s head over to this month’s progress results.

1. 5th Month progress tracking

It has been 5 months since we began our weight loss and fitness journey, in all honesty it has been a tough, painful and transformative journey so far and we were reminded of the magnitude of this undertaking when we measured and analyzed our progress this week. One can wonder why do we choose the most difficult paths? WHY 🙂 ,  Theodore Roosevelt stated “ Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty… I have never in my life envied a human being who led an easy life. I have envied a great many people who led difficult lives and led them well.”, perhaps an answer lies somewhere in this quote.

Kat started the journey weighing 67.25kg, he now weighs 63.85kg which means he has lost an overall weight of 3.4kg. Tshepi began her journey weighing 68.9kg, she now weighs 65kg which means she has lost 3.9kg overall. The target weight loss for both Kat and Tshepi was 5kg, the results indicate that both Kat and Tshepi are behind their target (see pictures below).

With 1 month remaining to the journey’s finish line, the current results showcase that the prospects of making the targeted weight loss seems bleak and highly unlikely to be met. But when inviting context into the conversation and considering the bigger picture, it is delightful to see that the weight loss plateau that eroded the progress for the past two months has finally made its exit. Whew, It is good to be moving again 🙂 , our efforts in restarting our metabolism have paid off . It took a while to start losing weight again, unfortunately time waits for no man as our target did not pause whilst we were sorting out our metabolism.

That’s it for the 5th month progress tracking, with one more month left before the end of our journey, we are keen to do our best to get as close as possible to our target, please wish us luck 🙂 . In this coming week, we will continue with our planned training program, we are enjoying a few Crossfit exercises we have introduced. We plan to remain consistent with our Nutrition, winter still demands a lot of discipline from us, it is quite tough but we are trying. Until next week, stay blessed and go for your goals.
