Hi There, welcome back to Kat&Tshepi blog.
Last week we shared some weight loss tips offered by artificial intelligence, we thought it was very impressive that such knowledge can be gathered within a minute instead of over three years of hard learning like we experienced on our weight loss journey. It seems that AI can really fast track weight loss process by equipping one with relevant and customized information, but it is also clear that AI cannot replace the human touch as it was highlighted in one of the tips offered by AI, that seeking support is crucial for weight loss success. Seeking support for weight loss can come in many ways, such as reading this blog and other weight loss articles or books, consulting a medical practitioner or nutritionist/dietician, joining a support group, sharing a journey with a partner, friend or family member, hiring a fitness and nutrition coach, joining a local exercise group, subscribing to youtube weight loss channels, joining WhatsApp or Facebook groups.
Seeking support for your weight loss journey enhances your chances of success as it creates a sense of accountability on your part. We are more likely to achieve goals that we write down and declare out loud, there is something about us human beings that drives us not to go back on our own words, we don’t want to fail. Seeking support strengthens your commitment to your weight loss goal as you continuously revisit the goal or talk about your intention, the goal never stays out of your sight and mind for longer periods, and if it is always on your mind some pathways get created for you to achieve it. Seeking support can have a positive impact in general such as improving mental health, reducing stress and improving emotional well being , it is worthwhile to consider support when you are trying to lose weight because the journey is not easy, it really takes a toll on you.
The easiest form of support is from a partner, friend and family member. These are people you trust and know that they care and seek what is best for you. Leveraging their accessibility can have a huge impact on your progress, they become your accountability partner, it is even greater if they join you on your weight loss journey and share the goal. When we look back on our (Kat & Tshepi) weight loss journey we can see that there was no way we could have achieved our goals individually, there was no way we would wake up at 4am every day to train, there was no way we would transform our diet completely, there was no way we would have amassed knowledge on nutrition, there was no way we would have started health and fitness initiatives such as this blog. It is clear to us that our companionship was (and still is) our secret sauce, we support each other daily, through good and bad, through successes and failures (lots of them 🙂 ) . It is therefore crucial to surround yourself with people and things that align with you weight loss goals, you need to seek them.
One more thing we learned about seeking support on our weight loss journey is practicing HUMILITY, the acceptance that we are unable to do it by ourselves, that we need each other. Our ego always tells us that we are not doing too badly, that we will start tomorrow, that there is nothing to weight loss and that I can do it by myself, which often leads to the same unachieved weight loss resolution every year. Seeking support eliminates(or perhaps reduce 🙂 ) our ego as we stop relying solely on ourselves and start to accept help from others, as we open our minds to new possibilities and make good weight loss progress. It is worthwhile to put a hold on your ego for a moment and leverage the power of support and association, there is a lot to learn and benefit in doing this.

That’s it for this week, until next week, chuck the ego and make good progress, stay blessed.
