Mission and weight loss

Hi There,

Welcome back to K&T blog. How are you?

We hope you had a lovely week and that you made good progress on your weight loss. On our side, Tshepi attended her regional “National Teacher Awards” interview, we hope she did well 🙂 . She has been chasing this vision on and off for the past three years, but this year she really summoned the courage, took the plunge and went for it. It has become one of her mission to showcase excellence in the profession of teaching , to embrace hard work and to inspire courage to go for ones goals regardless of where you are or where you come from. We wish her all the best.

Talking about a vision and a mission, this week we write about “Finding a mission on your weight loss journey”. The first step on our weight loss guide is setting your Vision, this deciding on a quantifiable measurement you want to get to, such as reaching 80kg. The vision set the direction for you and brings you back to the right path when you go astray, but there is another powerful element that always accompanies Vision, whether in business or life in general, a “MISSION”. A mission touches and express the core of your being, it comes from you but it is not about you, It fulfills your purpose but it benefits others. In its simplest definition, a mission is a purpose. What is your purpose for losing weight?

We now know that losing weight is all about CONSISTENCY, it is about being able to do what you planned to do for a sufficient period of time to start seeing results. It is about eating in a caloric deficit consistently, it is worth noting that all “weight loss” diets out there are meant to help you eat less than you are currently eating (PS: you can do this yourself without spending a fortune on the latest diet craze). Therefore weight loss is not necessarily about the diet you choose but about how consistently you keep to that diet. To be consistent, your vision keeps you on track but your mission powers you through to completion.

We started our weight loss journey to try and live a better life, a healthier life, but along the way we found a mission, to help others lose weight, to get healthy and fit. Our focus shifted from “US” to “OTHERS”, and this is why this blog was conceived, as well as other community fitness activities we are involved in. Trying to help others to lose weight successfully gives us fulfillment , and in turn it powers us to reach our own weight loss and fitness goals. It pleases us so much when we receive messages of how helpful and inspiring our efforts have been (such as WhatsApp status pic below), these messages strengthen our mission, these messages reminds us very well that as human beings “We are at our happiest when we help others”.

Have you found a mission on your weight loss journey? maybe it is to be able to play with your kids, or to be active at work and inspire colleagues to live a healthier life, or to encourage family members that you are concerned about their health, or to give hope to those who are in a similar state as you, or to improve the quality of life for those who are dependent on you, or to become the change you want to see in your community, or to improve the chances of being around for your family a little bit longer. Finding this mission on your weight loss journey will help you to play the long game, and this has a direct influence on being consistent and achieving your own weight loss goals. What you give, always finds a way to come back to you, and possibly tenfold.

That’s it for this week, we hope you can find a mission for your weight loss journey, it is one of the tools to help you stay consistent and to realise your goals whilst serving a much bigger purpose, which is helping those who come across you to be better in any way that your mission is leading you. “We will be known forever by the tracks we leave” – Native American Proverb.

Until next week, Stay blessed.
