The Garden: November update

Hello there,

Welcome back to K&T blog, we hope you have been keeping well.

Yey December is here, It is finally the last month of the year. However, it is the most challenging month to try to lose or maintain weight because of its jolly nature, unreserved revelry and gluttonous appetites. Last year we shared some tips to maneuver the festive season (Festive Season Dilemma), we hope these tips can help if you are worried about reversing all the progress you have made throughout the year. We wish you the best on your weight loss journey for this festive season.

It is time for us to give an update on the garden we started in July, the garden we started with the hope of being self-sustaining some day, the dream is still alive. This month was really a month of harvesting, the garden yielded so much spinach that it got overwhelming, we had to share with neighbors, colleagues and family members. We were also able to donate spinach at church for an event, and we blanched some of the spinach, that is boiling spinach to stop enzymes that causes loss of flavor and nutrients in preparation for storing to use later.

We also harvested a good amount of beetroot, it was amazing to see some of the sizes.

Some of the crops are starting to show signs that we will be harvesting soon.

The garden is developing well and we are glad that we can still manage with the little bit of time we have. Timeous harvesting and the ability to store crops for later use is a challenge and still a development area for us but we are willing and happy to learn, as they say ” The expert in anything was once a beginner” . Until next week, Stay blessed.
