Hello There,
Welcome back to K&T blog, how was your week?
We are in the middle of December now, the festive season is passing by so quickly, soon we will be working on our new year’s resolutions whilst wondering where the holiday’s went 🙂 . We hope that you are holding your own (or trying to) in maintaining your weight loss and fitness routine and that you are keeping the festive season revelry at a minimum. This is a time where small efforts goes a long way, especially for reducing the unnecessary pressures that we encounter at the beginning of the year because we gained so much weight. “Great acts are made up of small deeds” – Lao Tzu.
In 2021 we started a fitness group in our local community, we have HIIT, Tabata and resistance training sessions two days per week, it is free to join and everyone is welcomed. Being part of this group has yielded so much benefits on our weight loss journey and personal lives , little did we know that in giving our time, resources and trying to add value to our community will bring us so much in return in implicit benefits. Some of the benefits include:
1.Accountability on our weight loss and fitness goals.
2.A sense of purpose, meaning and belonging.
3.Increased commitment to our journey.
4.Gratitude and acceptance of life.
5.Indirect mental and emotional support.
6.An escape into reality.
7.Shared struggles and challenges.
8.A break from preoccupations.
9.Being up-to-date with the latest developments in the community.
10.Having FUN
We are truly convinced that “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35), what you get in return from giving to your community is way more in value and use in your life. Being part of a group helps you realize that whatever you might be going through, you are not alone and the situation is not unique to you, this is not only applicable to weight management but to other aspects of life as well.
For weight management, a fitness group helps you realize and become aware of the common challenges that you and other people are struggling with, such as dieting, losing and regaining the weight, struggles with certain foods and drinks, stigma on gaining weight, lack of motivation, lack of energy to workout. A fitness group gives you support to deal with these types of challenges, sometimes in a gentle way but at times in a raspy manner because we need a wake-up call sometimes 🙂 .
That’s it for this week, loosing weight in isolation is honestly hard and can be discouraging, by considering joining (or starting) a fitness group whether physically or virtually can be beneficial to your weight loss and fitness journey. It will always be a reminder of what is important to you, especially in times such as the festive season where weight loss commitments goes out of the window. Until next week, Stay blessed.
