Hi There,
Welcome back to K&T blog, how are you keeping?
With the first quarter of the year behind us, it is now a good opportunity to revisit our weight loss goals, recheck our plans and review progress made so far. In business, organizations review their goals and performance at the end of every quarter, this is done for a variety of reasons including to verify and ensure that their plans are on track, to ensure that their goals are still relevant and to ensure that they remember and align on what they are trying to do, all this is done to help the business succeed. This is a great practice to adopt as well when you are on a weight loss journey, to take the end of every quarter as an opportunity to soberly check how you are performing on the goals you committed to at the beginning of the year.
Pearson’s Law states, “When performance is measured, performance improves. When performance is measured and reported, the rate of improvement accelerates.
On our side, we have reviewed our plans, goals, performance and progress, and it seems we are not doing so great, we are moving at a snails pace when we compare to what we aimed to achieve at the beginning of the year. However, we are grateful that we are still sticking to our journey , each day we are still making efforts to lose weight and improve our health, we are happy to make and gladly take small positive progress than no progress at all. Looking at the variance between the goals we set versus our actual progress is still painful nonetheless, there is that deep sense that we should have done better, simply because we know better.
Our first quarter review reminded us of Mike Tyson’s words “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.”, indeed this is true for weight loss, you start off with a good plan for the year but then the realities and dynamics of life rattles and challenges your plans, things start to go south as soon as you hit the ground running . It then becomes critical how you respond to the variances, this is where reviewing you plans and goals comes in handy since you have now tasted the reality (the punch in the mouth 🙂 ) .
Reviewing means taking a time-out to assess what you have been doing and how effective it is, it is assessing how realistic is your goal against your current context because your life situation might not be the same as when you started. The review process makes sure that going forward your goals, plans and efforts are aligning with your reality, making sure that you are nimble and agile enough to adapt to changes in your life so that you can reach your goals.
“Keep your mind open to change all the time. Welcome it. Court it. It is only by examining and reexamining your opinions and ideas that you can progress.” – Dale Carnegie
That’s it for this week, how was your first quarter of the year? did you make your weight loss target? are you winning? It’s time to review your goals, plans and reality, it is time to gear up for the second quarter. There is 3 more quarters left in 2025, we believe that we still Got this regardless of the slow progress, and we also believe that you still Got this, remember this is the year that you make it 🙂 .
PS: Our tip from the 1st quarter – If you still have baked goods and confectionaries on your menu, it will still be hard to lose weight in the second quarter.
Until next week, Stay blessed.
