Hi There,
Welcome back to K&T blog, how are you today?
We hope that you had a good week and that you prioritized your fitness and health by continuing to work on your weight loss goals. There is certainly no better way to invest in oneself than to invest time and effort at improving ones fitness and health. When you are in a healthy state, you feel good about yourself, you feel good about life and you feel optimistic about what is happening in your life even though there are challenges, stresses and difficulties. Fitness and health comes across as the foundation, the basis upon which you draw strength to combat the unpredictable and forever present challenges of life. When health is not so good, the joy of life seems to disappear and many things appears to be going south, it is therefore best to keep trying to improve fitness and health.
“The groundwork for all happiness is good health.” – Leigh Hunt
On our weight loss journey, we had to face the reality of eliminating (or drastically reducing) some things from our lives for us to make weight loss progress and improve our health. Generally, when we think about losing weight we start by focusing on what we need to add instead of what we need to eliminate, we think of supplements, healthy foods, weight loss products and programs. The reality of weight loss is that simplicity still wins, we just need to start by reversing our weight gain process, this is done by identifying and eliminating the things that made us gain weight in the first place. We need to look inside first before we look at the market, the market which makes things more and more complex.
“Remember, Complexity is profitable“
Our latest face-off and contention is with FLOUR , we realized how flour based products (bread, cookies , cakes, pastry e.t.c) are negatively impacting our weight loss progress and general health, and this applies to so many people because these products are staple and prevalent in our food environment. We have been in the process of eliminating baked good (especially bread) for the past two months, this is a mammoth of a task :), but we are making small progress each day, each week and each month, we keep trying.
“The odds increase, the more you try.” – James clear.
We understand that just like all other things that we’ve had to eliminate in the past we need to follow an incremental and progressive process, we focus on the best we can do on the day and keep increasing our efforts as we go along. Here is a list of some of the things that we had to eliminate or drastically reduce to make some progress on our weight loss journey.
1.Sugar – We eliminated the use of direct sugar completely.
2.Junk food – We drastically reduced the consumption of processed foods.
3.Alcohol – We eliminated the consumption of alcohol completely.
4.Maize meal/Pap – We eliminated this local staple completely.
5. Starchy food – We drastically reduced starchy foods and vegetables such as potatoes.
6. Sodas and Juices – We completely eliminated sugary beverages (This is the best place to start, tip 🙂 )
7.Sweets – We eliminated the consumption of sweets and treats.
8.Chocolates – We drastically reduced consumption, now limited to dark chocolate.
9.Fatty meats – We highly reduced the consumption of meats that are generally laden with fat.
10.Cereals – We eliminated the processed foods that are typically considered breakfast, e.g corn flakes, granolas and wheat biscuits.
That’s it for this week, weight loss progress can be made by firstly looking at the things that can be eliminated or reduced from ones life, the things that are causing the weight gain in the first place. Do you have things that you can simply identify as culprits for your weight gain? continuous efforts in trying to eliminate these culprits will eventually yield results, amidst hundreds and hundreds of failures, just don’t give up 🙂 .
Until next week, stay blessed.
