Hi There,
Welcome back to the blog, how was your week?
We are right in the middle of January, the newness of the new year is starting to fade away, the vitality of our fitness goals is starting to show the reality of what it takes to achieve the goals, the cost of making them happen and the associated sacrifices are emerging as well. At this point, the mismatch between the planned and the actual is visible, maybe one was overly optimistic about their ability to achieve a goal or overly simplistic in the timeframe required to meet the goal. This is normal, a plan is almost always met with resistance in real life when it is executed.
“Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth,” – Mike Tyson
On our journey, we often find that the shocking and unexpected real world challenges that we encounter when trying to implement our plan provide us with a golden opportunity to revise, adapt and come up with a realistic plan that aligns with our context. The sooner this revision is done the better, the goals needs to be realistic and match your abilities for them be realised or they will breed resentment, impact your self-esteem and you will eventually quit or postpone them.
Our weight loss tip for the week
Frequently review your fitness goals and plans to align with the reality of your life.
When it comes to weight loss, we often set impossible targets because we don’t know what it really takes to lose such an amount of weight, we invite unnecessary stress and pressure in our lives. The recommended healthy weight loss rate is 0.5 – 1kg per week (1-2 pounds), as you can see the maximum healthy weight to lose per month is around 4kg, what is your current monthly target if your aim is to lose weight in 2026?
That’s it for this week, middle of January is a good time to review and compare our plan for 2026 against what we have been doing for the past 2 weeks, to see whether things are working out and to see if there are improvements we can effect to ensure that the goals and plans remain relevant, realistic and in accordance with the context of our lives. We hope your plans are going accordingly.
PS: For weight loss, we always aim for 0.25kg loss rate per week, it seems and sounds doable, but still so tough in reality 🙂 .
Until next week, Stay blessed.
