WEEK 26: 6th Month Progress Tracking

Hi there,

Welcome back to Kat & Tshepi’s blog. We hope your week was fantastic. We had a good week overall, but a dynamic week nonetheless. We are in the middle of winter school holidays, so the kids are having their well-deserved break, they are free to sleep in, watch TV and videos on their phones relentlessly. But Tshepi had to continue going to work to teach in the matric winter camp, unfortunately no break for her. We therefore had to change routine this week and this affected our training schedule, we could not train the whole week.

Our nutrition was also different, from last week we started lifting restrictions on our food intake as it was starting to affect us physically and emotionally. We continued in the same manner this week but we emphasized more whole foods than processed foods. We also reduced the calorie tracking on my fitness pal, at least now we are knowledgeable of the caloric and nutritional value of the foods we come across and our portion sizes. With the restrictions off, we started feeling better and the pressure of the upcoming last progress tracking was manageable. Let see how did we do in the last month of our 6-months weight loss and fitness journey.

1.6th Month Fitness journey

Kat started the journey 6 months ago weighing 67.25kg, currently he weighs 63.50kg, this means he managed to lose 3.75kg on this journey. Tshepi commenced the journey weighing 68.90kg, currently she weighs 63.1kg, she has lost 5.8kg. Our 6th month progress tracking results indicate that we have missed our targeted weight loss by roughly 2kg’s for Kat and 0.2kg for Tshepi each as we aimed to lose 6kg’s individually. However, we can safely declare that Tshepi made the targeted when we roundup the totals, we are very happy about this achievement and we applaud her consistent efforts throughout the tough 6 months. It is a tough pill to swallow to miss the target for Kat, to come short after putting in so much. But we feel and agree that the planning, the sacrifices and the efforts expended each and every week for 6 months (whew 🙂 ) was worth it.

We began this journey to document our weight loss endeavor for 6 months, we hoped we would inspire anyone struggling with losing weight or thinking about starting their own fitness journey. We followed a more structured approach this time and integrated all the lessons and skills we have acquired on our fitness journey since around 2 years ago. We knew it was going to be hard and it was indeed hard. Amidst challenges and difficulties, we showed up each week in pursuit of our goal. In week 14, we highlighted the importance of perception when faced with reality , whether success or failure, It is now time to draw on our perception of the journey’s outcome and continue on our fitness journey.

That’s it for this week, our 6 months journey has come to an end, it was long and hard. We are however grateful for the journey as we have learned a lot,  we lost weight and are in a better state of mind and better fitness level than we were 6 months ago. In the coming week, we will be contemplating and planning our next journey. We are already itching for the next challenge 🙂 , Benjamin Franklin stated that “All mankind is divided into three classes: those that are immovable, those that are movable, and those that move.” , we now see that we are in the latter class. Until the next blog, stay blessed.
