Top 10 weight loss mistakes

Hi there, welcome back.

It is yet another week that got ticked off the year 2024, we hope you are getting closer and closer to your goal if you are on a weight loss journey, each and every week present an opportunity to get better at losing weight and closing in on your target. We are sure that by now you have realized that it is not an easy endeavor, that it takes time, discipline and a certain amount of willpower (which is a scares commodity these days) to successfully lose weight. We still wish you the best on your journey as it a great and noble journey to embark, getting your health back in order starts with weight management. On the bright side, losing weight comes with some good benefits, soon you will be oozing with energy, focusing better, smiling more with increased confidence and responding with ease to the calls of an active lifestyle 🙂 ,doing things you forgot you could do and enjoy.

This week we would like to share our top 10 weight loss mistakes (there is a lot more mistakes than this 🙂 ), these are mistakes we committed on our 3 years of weight loss journey. Although these are specific to us, they are certainly not unique to us as we have seen quite a lot of people commit them with the honest intent to lose weight, but instead they are contrary to losing weight or add no value to their goals. In doing these mistakes, we certainly had missed the mark when we were so sure that we were on the right track, we wasted valuable time, money and efforts . Here are our top 10 weight loss mistakes.

10. Reliance on supplements – Supplements are not really regulated, so you are never sure about what you are consuming, it is better to focus on good quality whole foods.

9. Prioritizing exercise over nutrition – Nutrition is king.

8. Thinking that we can reduce only belly fat without affecting other body parts – The body decides which fat goes first.

7. Undermining the impact of condiments, small ingredients and methods of cooking – These packs a lot more calories than we think.

6. Falling for the “HEALTHY SNACKS” advertising/marketing trap -Many not so true, real snacks are whole foods (fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, meats)

5. Not tracking calories – This one might be specific to us, we overeat when we are not counting calories.

4. Unrealistic expectations – targeting too much weight too soon, or expecting to look like a particular model or athlete.

3. Allowing pressure from the scale, people and most importantly ourselves – It is easy to forget to enjoy your transformation and gains.

2. Inconsistent efforts – a casual approach to weight loss, being on and off brings no results.

1. Unclear goal – every journey must have a destination or it will lead to nowhere.

We hope that the awareness of these mistakes will come in handy if you are trying to lose weight, these are the things we had to fix to lose 21kg(Kat) and 28.4kg(Tshepi), you can check our story here . All these mistakes are important to fix to succeed with weight loss, and there is a lot that we can say about each of these mistakes, perhaps we will one day delve further into each of them. We tried to list the mistakes by way of importance, with number 1 being the most important to fix and number 2 the second important to fix and so on. It is then clear that having an unclear goal is the first mistake we recommend fixing to lose weight. It is best to set a clear goal, because everything else follows from there.
