The Garden – December update

Hello there,

Welcome back to K&T blog, how are you doing?

Festive season is a time for joy, celebration and excitement, for some it is also time for reflection, relaxation and recovery, but for others it can be a time of great anxiety, fear and depression. Same season but with different effects, it is therefore a noble thing to be considerate of oneself and of others, to be kind to oneself and extending the same gesture to others, “A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees.” Amelia Earhart. If you are on a weight loss journey, it is important to be kind to yourself as sticking to a particular diet and lifestyle is near impossible at this time.

2024 is almost done, It is time to give the latest update on the garden we started 6 months ago. This month we did more harvesting than tending to the garden, our efforts over the past six months ( The Garden – July update, The Garden: August update, The Garden: September update, The Garden: October update, The Garden: November update ) has yielded a good sum of produce, it also gave us a good amount of new gardening experiences, as well as an opportunity to reconnect with nature on a daily basis. For this year, Spinach and Beetroot were the stars of the harvesting season, but we also harvested Onions, green and red cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower and peppers.

There are still some crops that are still coming up and will be ready for harvesting soon.

We also started planting some herbs, cucumbers and new batch of spinach this month.

That’s it for this week, as we head into 2025 we are still hopeful that we will eventually get to have a garden that supplies all our vegetable needs, it has become more important to be in control of the type of food we choose, to know where, when and how they were grown as our health is dependent on the type and quality of foods we consume, the type of fuel we provide it . Until next week, stay blessed.
