Hello there,
Welcome back to K&T blog, how is the new year treating you so far?
We hope you have started to work your plan for losing weight and that your motivation levels are still high two weeks into the new year. It is possible and within your reach to lose your desired weight in 2025 and to reclaim your health, we have done it before and so can you 🙂 . On our side, our engines are taking their time to warm-up and get going, although we are committed to our goals, we are still holding on to some of the December holiday habits (and we have the weight to show for them), but we know we will get there in no time.
Desmond Tutu once said “There is only one way to eat an elephant: a bite at a time.” , which means that any monumental task can be completed by breaking it into smaller manageable pieces and working on those smaller pieces one at a time. This is our one tip for sticking to and achieving your weight loss goals in 2025. Losing weight is a monumental task, and focusing on all the weight that you have to lose can become overwhelming and discouraging, but when you focus on what you can manage each week you start to see the possibility of making it.
In weight loss literature, the healthy and recommended weight loss per week is between 0.5 – 1kg (1-2 pounds), focusing on the minimum side of this recommendation seems doable even to the most uncommitted person. Moving at the rate of 0.5kg per week equates to 2kg per month and 24kg loss per year, losing this amount of weight consistently is remarkable (trust us 🙂 ) and a fulfilling achievement. We have used a similar approach in setting our goals for the year, but we have set the bar a little lower than the recommended weight loss rate because we want to reduce the restrictions as much as possible, we learned in the past that too much restrictions creates resistance towards success and builds resentment.
In setting our goals for 2025, our overall purpose is to improve some of our negative health markers by reaching our BMI scores, and to do so we aimed at losing 0.25kg per week (1 kg per month and 12kg per year). So for this year, we know our elephant (12kg per year) and we know how to eat that elephant, one bite at a time (0.25kg per week), this feels simple, encouraging and achievable for us, we will see how it goes 🙂 .

Last week we showed how to determine your BMI and we gave some guidance on setting goals for this year, you can visit this blog (2025 Weight loss goals) if you are still setting up your weight loss goals for the year. We always say Simplicity is better for weight loss , making the process of losing weight simple and having a long term view is one way of ensuring that you stick to your goals, it is one way of ensuring success, with consistency and contentment .
“I adore simple pleasures. They are the last refuge of the complex.”― Oscar Wilde.
Until next week, stay blessed.
