Motivation for the week

Hi There,

Welcome back to K&T blog, how are you today?

Since we began our weight loss journey about 5 years ago, we have come to realize that simplicity is best when it comes to weight loss, that the basics are still sufficient to reach your goal. But we know that in our high paced world doing the simple and basic , and sticking to them over time is challenging and honestly boring, we seem to prefer the complex and maybe hard things to do, that also come at a cost. When you are on a weight loss journey, it is a good idea to continuously remind yourself to keep things simple, to return to the basics when things gets complex and frustrating, when you are getting too deep into gadgets, diet crazes and supplements….which happens very often. Eating a healthy diet (whole natural foods) and exercising regularly still works.

“I adore simple pleasures. They are the last refuge of the complex.” – Oscar Wilde

A weight loss journey has few highs and many lows, you fail to meet your target so many times before you ultimately make it. During the lows, the times when the scale is refusing to cooperate, the times where you thought you did the best but it turns out you did the worst, you need to dig deep for motivation to keep going. This week we thought it would be a good idea to give some motivation for those days when you are feeling low on your weight loss journey.

1.If you missed your planned workouts the past week – It happens, regroup and start the new week strong, the next workout is the important one.

“The past doesn’t matter. Take today.” – Becky Sauerbrunn

2.If you cheated on your meal plan and binged on some foods unexpectedly – It happens, and very often, don’t get stuck on it but focus on making your next meal better.

“In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: it goes on.” – Robert Frost

3.If the scale keeps going up regardless of your efforts – It happens, the scale is a partner, it is letting you know of what is not working out and remind you of your goal. Review what you have been doing the past few days and work on tweaking and improving it. Be patient , you will get there.

“Excellence is the gradual result of always striving to do better.” – Pat Riley

4.If you failed to meet your weight loss deadline – It happens, a weight loss journey is a learning journey , it is not quite linear nor straight forward. Be kind to yourself, set a new deadline and go again with improved vigor.

“Continuous effort—not strength or intelligence—is the key to unlocking our potential.” – Liane Cardes

5.If you get sick or injured when you are on a good momentum – It happens, the ultimate goal for weight loss journey is good health. Focus on getting well, you will regain the momentum because you have done it before.

No night is so long and dark that it has no dawn

6.If the clothes don’t fit anymore – It happens, this is usable information and a reminder of your goal, it is good to notice the condition. Review and revive your plan, and make incremental small changes where necessary .

There are two primary choices in life: to accept conditions as they exist, or accept the responsibility for changing them – Denis Waitley

7.If you don’t like what you see in the mirror – It happens, remember to value yourself no matter how you look , what you see is what you are trying to make even better. You are work in progress, working to be the best version of Yourself. That is good enough.

Be yourself, everyone else is taken – Oscar Wilde

8.If you are under pressure at work and can’t focus on your weight loss goals – It happens, pressures in life priorities themselves, focus on the small good things you did towards your health and keep increasing them until you are back in full swing. The pressures will not last forever, not all is lost.

Just as long as you do something every day – Arnold Schwarzenegger

9.If you keep eating the food you know are working against you – It happens, this is exactly what you decided to fight against when you started your journey. It is a fight, sometimes you give blows and sometimes you also get blows. Focus on eliminating the food that works against you from your environment, and make them harder to access.

Your environment will always win against your willpower.

10.If you keep going back to old habits – It happens, old habits die hard, be alert, be aware of them as early as possible and put up a fight immediately.

“It is easier to keep the enemy out than it is to expel him after he has gained entrance.” – Author Unknown

That’s it for this week, a weight loss journey is not straight forward, the twists and turns, the highs and the lows makes the journey worth the efforts for your desired health status. Along the way you get to learn about your body and the right nutrition for it, you also get to test your grit, your limits and you discipline, and improve your resilience greatly.

“If you aren’t in over your head, how do you know how tall you are?” – T.S. Eliot

Until next week, stay blessed.
